The “Break/Fix” Era

“Break/Fix” was the model that dominated the market for information technology services for a considerable time. If something terrible happened with a company’s system, the company would call an IT staff to come and fix it.

Initially, the firm would have its system set up. They had to wait a long time for the team to solve the problem, which resulted in a lot of disruption. Besides, they had to pay a lot to fix the issue.

But back then, businesses either did not rely on technology significantly in their day-to-day operations, or they did not believe they did.

As the years went by, technological advancements were made. It became abundantly evident to many businesses that technology was critically necessary to the operation of their business. Considerable cutbacks in activity and income and long periods of downtime brought on by the “break/fix” approach were utterly unacceptable.
